F&M Trust recently donated $5,000 to The Maryland Theatre in support of its Century Club, which consists of community members who believe in the arts and have made a commitment to the historic preservation of the theater built in 1915. The bank’s five-year pledge will allow the theater in downtown Hagerstown, Maryland, to continue to present quality entertainment, educational, and cultural offerings to the community.
“The bank’s support will contribute to our discounted facility fees that are provided to our 22 community partners such as schools, dance studios, local events and community theater,” said Jessica Green, executive director of the theater. “The donation will also support the ongoing preservation of the historic theater as she turns 110 years old in 2025.”
The Maryland Theatre serves as the anchor to the Arts & Entertainment district, which is home to a high school for the visual and performing arts, offices of the Washington County Arts Council, and numerous new businesses and retail enterprises. The theater welcomes approximately 100,000 people annually for more than 225 private events and performances, and serves as home for the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Barbara Ingram School for the Arts, City Ballet School, Authentic Community Theatre, Miss Maryland Scholarship Pageant, and Hagerstown Community Concert Association.
“There are few who live in Hagerstown and Washington County who have not attended a performance, performed on stage, or watched a friend or family member perform at The Maryland Theatre,” F&M Trust President and CEO Tim Henry said. “Through this sponsorship, F&M Trust will help the theater to continue to provide quality entertainment for the residents of Hagerstown and beyond.”
